Marking his professional debut, Usman entered the cage at RFA 5 in Kearney, Nebraska as part of the card’s preliminary lineup. No stranger to the crowd of locals, Usman was an NCAA Division II Wrestling Champion at the University of Nebraska in Kearney. He brought pride to the State’s wrestling program with his quick use of takedowns, as he easily put his opponent on the mat twice in the first round. After finding his confidence, comfort and control, Usman became more aggressive and started landing the strikes taught so skillfully to him by the Blackzilian’s team of striking coaches led by Henri Hooft.
In the second round, Usman again got Glover to the ground and attempted a mount before his opponent escaped to his feet. But this time, Usman unleashed all of his power and new stand up skills and let his hands go, finishing Glover with strikes in the second round via TKO. Usman is proud of his first win and quickly credits it to his training and preparation down at JACO Hybrid Training Center in Delray Beach.
“This win feels amazing, I felt great in there and I am definitely blessed to able to showcase all the hard work with my team the Blackzilians,” said Usman. “RFA did a great job with the show, I’ve been following them for a while now and they have done a phenomenal job growing the fights.”
RFA President Ed Soares was impressed with Usman’s professional debut and had words of praise for the young fighter.
“I thought he looked very relaxed and patient in his pro debut, and he out-struck Glover standing up, and took him down whenever he wanted,” said Soares. “I think he has a bright future and we are looking forward to seeing him back in RFA soon.”
