Last weekend four Blackzilians fought at Titan Fighting Championship and although we didn’t get the perfect record we still can look back at a very successful event.
Unfortunately before the event started we got some bad news. Our heavyweight fighter Volkan Oezdemir was supposed to be the fifth fighter on the card as he would fight for the heavyweight championship. For some reason fractured his foot the day of the fight. Strange as they both weighed in the day before. Still the fight was cancelled and Volkan was out of the fight. Titan FC promised Volkan another shot at the heavyweight belt in January.
The first fighter on the card was Gesias “JZ’ Cavalcante, he took on Robert Turnquest in a catchweight fight. Turnquest weighed in more than four pounds heavyweight. He would pay for the mistake as JZ still wanted to take the fight and showed him a lesson that missing weight is unacceptable. During the three rounds JZ was cruising his way to victory as Turnquest couldn’t do much expect defending himself.
The second fighter of the night was Desmond Green. He was facing a much stronger opponent in Martin Brown. Although Desmond won the first and second round he was having big trouble in the third round. Brown was looking for the finish as Green was exhausted and was in pure survival mode. Green survived and took home the majority decision based on the previous rounds. A hard fought battle against a game opponent which saw Green extend his winning streak to 4 fights.
Yosdenis Cedeno was up next and had a big test in Kurt Holobaugh. The former Titan champion won his fight last year against Green but lost the belt to Andre Harrison. Cedeno knew he was up for a big challenge but still manage to make it a good fight. Unfortunately it was Holobaugh ground game that was too much for Cedeno and in the last round of the fight he got the rear-naked choke finish.
Then we got the main event of the night. It was a welterweight scrap between Blackzilians Jason Jackson and champion Dhiego Lima. Lima who won the welterweight belt against David Michaud was now facing a very hungry Jackson. Jason who already won the Victory FC belt in February of this year was looking to add a new one to his collection. Just two minutes in the fight Jason Jackson landed a perfectly timed right hand that put Lima down. He wasn’t out as Jackson was going for the kill, the referee protected Lima and ended the fight making Jason Jackson the new Titan Fighting Championship champion.
With three wins and one loss against a former champion we did a great job representing the team. Jason Jackson can now call himself the Titan FC welterweight championship.
