This weekend we had three Blackzilians; Sean Soriano would face Levan Makashvili on Friday in the main event of CES 38 and Gilbert “Durinho” Burns took on Michel Prazeres and Vicente Luque would meet Hector Urbina.
Sean Soriano started the fight strong as it was clear Soriano was the better fighter on the feet. In the first round Makashvili tried for a takedown but wasn’t able to get it. At the end of the first round Soriano landed a hard right that dropped Makashvili, unfortunately he wasn’t able to finish the fight. In the second round Makshvili was successful with the takedown but Soriano could get up but the second time he wasn’t able to do so as Makshvili got the his back and finished him with a rear-naked choke.
The next day it was time for another UFC event. Last week the Blackzilians had a great weekend as two fighters got performance bonuses. Michael Johnson got a huge KO victory in the main event and Chas Skelly got the submission finish with the fastest submission win in UFC history. So it was hard to top such an amazing night but the start of the event was looking very good as Vicente Luque got a brutal KO finish in the first round. There was no doubt that he would get the performance bonus as Urbina was out cold.
Grappling world champion Gilbert “Durinho” Burns wasn’t looking himself against Michel Prazeres. The first round was close but the second and third round it was Prazeres that outscored him in every department. He would out striking him and got five takedowns to secure the unanimous decision victory. So the weekend didn’t end like we hoped but in the fight game you win some and you lose some, at least Luque got a highlight reel KO and an extra 50.000 dollars.
